First Stop: Upper Dowry Creek
We left home today. It was bitter-sweet. But we put our face to the wind, and set our eyes on the horizon with adventure awaiting us.To sum up our day, it was hot, buggy, and there was no wind. Dad let V and I (Zani) on the transom while Dad motor-sailed. He let us dip our feet in and splash each other—something we had never done before so that was fun and refreshing. Our water temperature gauge read 105 today!! We can’t believe it’s so warm; so much so that Dad thinks it could be wrong, but we can feel it is right.
Not too much wild life today, but V and Dad saw a stingray, although unfortunately I did not see it. BUT I did see a really cool fish that skipped in the water every few inches and went along like this for about five feet! It did this twice so V was able to see it too. Of course seagulls invited us along, watching us from markers.
We reached our Port o’ Call (Upper Dowry Creek) around 5pm tonight. It is a quiet, small harbor. A harbor we had been in now a few times. A soft breeze cooled us a little. The day seemed longer than a five and a half hour sail.
We soon set our minds to super. Where we were reminded of our discovery earlier today— that we left our meats and breads at home. Silly us, we were now left with peanut butter and jelly with no bread. And cream cheese with no bagels. No burgers or hotdogs for us tonight.
Shortly, we fixed ourselves mac and cheese and salad filled with carrots and cucumbers. Glasses of lemonade served as our dessert and refreshed us once again.
Once we filled our physical hunger, we soon fed our spiritual hunger in the first chapter of Revelation.
Thus our first day of our trip had been completed with satisfactory.
God Bless you all!!!

From Oriental to Upper Dowry Creek
We set sail today. We were sad to miss our friends and family, but excited for the voyage ahead. The sun was bright and shining down on us and there was a nice breeze leading us out into the Neuse River. The waves dipped in the wind and I was filled with excitement about our adventure.
And as you can see it was very stormy. lol
But soon we entered the ICW (Intracostal Waterway) and it was hot, sticky and buggy, besides being boring. The sun was hot and bright and you could see our reflection in the water.
A few hours before we arrived at our anchorage we entered Alligator River and we could see smoke from the forest fire burning in the distance.
There was a nice breeze so we were able to hoist the mainsail.
All in all it was a nice day. We have a long day of canal tomorrow…
Signing off,
Victoria

Oh boy the commenting thing just got messed up. Okay, starting over.
You guys look like you're having fun!
Zani, you look EXACTLY like your mom in the photo under the one of your dad and Victoria. I really thought it was her for a minute and I got confused because Victoria said your mom wasn't going!
Victoria I love your hair in the first picture! Lol it looks like mine did the other day when I went for a walk down the canal with my mom! It was so windy!
You both just inspired me for a book plot, that makes 64 plots that I have finished in my head and have to write down. So wish me luck with my over-louded brain!
